Trustworthy Information
Building a sustainable, just future depends on people having access to reliable, understandable knowledge they can translate into action. Yet the production and distribution of trustworthy information of this kind is under severe pressure.

Artificial intelligence is flooding the public sphere with content, making it harder than ever to tell what is authentic from what is false. This deepens the erosion of trust at precisely the moment it is needed most: social cohesion across Europe is being put to the test by widening economic, political and social divides and by rising authoritarianism. At the same time, the platforms and infrastructure through which information reaches the public are concentrated in the hands of a few powerful actors, often with little democratic oversight.
Resilient societies
This is why we focus on Trustworthy Information and on strengthening a broad information ecosystem: journalists, media organisations, academics and civil society actors who serve the public interest. Their work exposes wrongdoing, holds those in power to account, and protects the rule of law, freedom of expression and other fundamental rights. We support people and organisations developing resilient, innovative ways to produce trustworthy information and distribute it so that it actually reaches the people it is meant for.
