To mark its 15th anniversary, the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) organized a symposium on November 9, 2023. Since 2008, ECCHR– together with those affected and partners worldwide – has used legal means to end impunity for torture, war crimes, sexual and gender-based violence, corporate exploitation, climate injustice, and fortified borders. With an audience of around 230 participants from the wider ECCHR community, including partners, staff, alumni, academic colleagues, and friends, ECCHR gathered critical reflections, new perspectives, and lessons learned to reevaluate the "toolbox" developed by ECCHR and others in the field, pushing the boundaries of transnational human rights litigation. Have a look at this short video with Wolfgang Kaleck, Secretary General of ECCHR, talking about the topic of climate justice in his opening remarks, and what human rights law can do to tackle climate related injustice.
