November 2023 – Amidst the climate crisis, young people in Italy and Greece are deeply concerned about their future. This is revealed by our first Next Generations Study. Almost half of those surveyed are prepared to join others in taking more climate action. But how to bring about more systemic collective action? And how to ensure a just climate transition?

To discuss these questions, 36 stakeholders from politics and civil society met in Rome and Athens as part of the Allianz Foundation Future Dialogues, organized in close collaboration with our local partners ECCO (in Italy) and Eteron (in Greece). The Dialogues follow the Chatham House Rule and provide a space for open debate and co-creation, aiming to encourage more collective action on the most pressing issues of our time.

In Rome and Athens, dialogue participants discussed the study findings, their implications for Italy and Greece, and opportunities for targeted action at the local and national level in the two countries, including a more coordinated climate messaging and salient opportunities to capitalize on the recent mayoral election in Athens as well as the upcoming European parliament election.

As the conversation continues beyond the two events, the next Future Dialogue is set to take place in Warsaw early next year.
