Markus N. Beeko is a civil society activist as well as a campaign and communications strategist. He has worked for Amnesty International for the last twenty years in various positions, most recently as Secretary General of the German section. At Amnesty, he also chaired Amnesty's global working group on Human Rights in the digital age. He is currently setting up the new pro-democracy research initiative "Power for Democracies".
Prof. Dr. Kader Konuk is Professor of Turkish Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Artistic and scholarly freedom are one focus of her work. In 2017 she founded the Academy in Exile, which enables scholars at risk to continue their work in Germany.
Yasmine Ouirhrane is an advocate for social and gender justice. She is the co-founder of We Belong, a platform and podcast series designed to inspire the next generation leadership of young European women from diverse backgrounds.
Vitali Alekseenok is a conductor, author and political activist. He is Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein inDüsseldorf. Vitali Alekseenok became increasingly politically active in the context of the protests against the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko. Among other things, he co-founded the Belarusian community in Germany RAZAM. In 2021 he published the book “Die weißen Tage von Minsk” (“The White Days of Minsk. Our Dream of a Free Belarus”).
Kader Attia is an artist and curator. In his work, he explores the relationship between injuries and repair and is especially concerned with the wide-ranging effects of western cultural hegemony and colonialism on non-western cultures and societies. He was curator of the 12th Berlin Biennale and founded La Colonie, a cultural venue in Paris.
Julia Wissert is an artistic director working with theater, musical theatre, and film. She has been the artistic director at Schauspiel Dortmund since the 2020/21 season. Her work takes on an approach that is intersectional and critical of power, engaging with theater as well as the society in which it is rooted.
Dr. Camilla Bausch is Director of the Ecologic Institute. She is a passionate researcher on climate change related topics. Addressing the international dimensions of climate and energy policy is an important part of her work. She is a member of the Climate Protection Council of the State of Berlin (Klimaschutzrat) and was a long-time member of Greenpeace Germany’s Board of Directors. She initiated the EnergyTransitionArt project in 2013 and led it until 2016.
Prof. Dr. Ali Aslan Gümüşay is Professor of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability at LMU Munich. His work includes new types of organizational forms and values as well as meaning and hybridity in entrepreneurial contexts. In addition, he coordinates projects at the intersection of business, digitalization and society at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet & Society.
Imeh Ituen a scholar and activist working on issues of colonialism and racism in the environmental and climate crisis. Her dissertation project explores energy fairness from an intersectional Black perspective. Imeh Ituen is a member of the Decolonial Think Tank for Care & Repair.
